I went to a summer resort in the early 90s that had an arcade. There was a cabinet game there that I remember loving but cannot recall the name of. It was a side scrolling shooter a la contra, but it had a knob you spun to rotate your character's shooting angels. I think the knob was the only control you had; running was automated throughout the level. Can you help me out?
The only arcade game I know of that has an aiming knob like that is Front Line which Taito put out in 1982. And Tron, of course.
If anybody has other ideas, feel free to speak up.
UPDATE: thanks to spacecaptsteve for pointing out that Capcom’s Forgotten Worlds (1988) also has an aiming knob:
